Meet TyKiah
Speaker. Advocate. Mentor. Trailblazer. Author of From Where I Sit.
From the moment I was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth condition at age three, the world around me looked different and I’ve spent my life showing others that different isn’t less. I am TyKiah Renee, and From Where I Sit is more than a book. It’s my truth. It’s my lens. It’s a window into the barriers I’ve faced, the resilience I’ve built, and the legacy I’m creating.

Legacy Work: WrightChoice
When I founded WrightChoice Mentoring more than 20 years ago, I didn’t set out to create a program, I set out to answer a need I had once felt myself. As a first-generation college student living with a disability, I knew the power of access, exposure, and having someone in your corner. I also knew how hard it was to find that support if you didn’t come from the “right” zip code, school, or background.
Our Power – The Anthology is an inspiring collection of four powerful voices that illuminate the lived experiences of women with disabilities. It is not just a book it is a movement a mirror and a manifesto for anyone who’s ever faced the impossible and dared to overcome it.
From Where I Sit is a deeply personal and powerful story, TyKiah Wright-Wilson invites readers to see the world through her lens as a woman living with a disability. From childhood to adulthood, she shares her journey navigating inaccessible spaces, biased assumptions, and systems never built with her in mind. But instead of backing down, she built up her voice, her purpose, and a pathway for others through the creation of WrightChoice.
Through poignant storytelling, humor, faith, and truth-telling, TyKiah reflects on everything from school days in full-leg braces to launching a nationally respected mentoring organization. She doesn’t just recount obstacle, she reveals how she transformed them into opportunities for impact.
From Where I Sit challenges readers to think differently about disability, leadership, advocacy, and love. It’s a celebration of resilience, a call to own your story, and a reminder that purpose can be found, even in the places where you were once counted out.
From where she sits, TyKiah has always seen possibility. And now, she’s sharing that vision with the world.
